Gold-backed agriculture loans: RBI proposes changes to priority sector lending rules; what could change for borrowers

The RBI has proposed tighter checks for banks classifying gold-backed agricultural loans as priority sector lending (PSL). It has also proposed changes to the treatment of bills discounted under letters of credit, which could increase banks' PSL requirements.
